Our People

Rev Jeanne Roddick
Interim Moderator
Although retired from full time ministry, I am delighted to be serving as Interim Moderator and to have the privilege of accompanying Netherlee and Stamperland Parish Church during this important time of vacancy.
As Interim Moderator, my role is to moderate Kirk Session meetings and to ensure that the work of the church, worship services and pastoral care continue.
While times of vacancy can sometimes feel like a slow process, all churches have to go through procedures set down by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and so it is also my task is to try and ensure that these are done correctly and as quickly as possible!
Although happy to be Interim Moderator, I look forward to the day when I will be no longer needed because that will mean Netherlee and Stamperland has a new minister. Meantime I would ask that you keep the vacancy process in your prayers.
If you wish to speak to me about any matter concerning Netherlee and Stamperland, please do not hesitate to get in touch at jroddick@churchofscotland.org.uk.

Rev Ian Galloway
Locum Minister
I am a happily retired minister “filling in” in a very part-time capacity while the search for a new (real) minister continues.
As such I mainly prepare and conduct Sunday, midweek and other occasional worship services and supplement the work of the pastoral assistant when required.
Like Jeanne, the Interim Moderator, I both expect and look forward to being out of a job when the new minister is appointed, although meantime I am greatly enjoying the company of the delightful congregation and appreciating both the quality and quantity of its common life, which agreeably seems to revolve around countless opportunities to sit round tables eating and drinking, while also celebrating significant milestones in the lives of members.

Marie Wilson
Pastoral Assistant
I took up the part-time role of Pastoral Assistant in 2019 hailing from a background of chaplaincy, palliative care nursing and spiritual accompaniment in the Ignatian spirituality tradition when the two congregations were becoming linked working alongside the former minister Rev Scott Blythe.
Since then it has been my privilege to offer pastoral care to folks at home, in hospital and in carehomes and at times of bereavement. In addition I have helped to lead some worship services in the parish as well as local carehomes as required.
The above support continues to be given in collaboration with Rev Ian and Rev Jeanne as we strive to support the community through this period of change looking forward in faith and hope to the appointment of the new minister.

Steven Crawford
Organist and Choirmaster
Steven Crawford has been the Organist and Choirmaster at Netherlee and Stamperland Parish Church since 1998, bringing decades of experience and passion for church music to the congregation. Originally from Inverness, he developed a deep love for sacred music as a chorister and organ scholar at Inverness Cathedral, where he received an excellent foundation in church music. He went on to study music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, further honing his musical skills. In addition to his role as organist, Steven is dedicated to music education, serving as Head of Performing Arts at Hamilton Grammar School. His work in both the church and the classroom reflects his commitment to nurturing musical talent and enriching the cultural life of the community.

Elspeth Reid
Secretary
My name is Elspeth and for the last 24 years I have been church secretary for Netherlee and subsequently Netherlee and Stamperland Church.
I work three mornings per week, Wednesday and Thursday at home and Fridays in the church office.
My work entails preparing the Order of Service and Power Point presentation for Sunday worship, overseeing hall bookings or new lets, any printing requirements, creating monthly invoices for lets, keeping our membership and donations databases up to date, and submitting the Gift Aid claim to Inland Revenue every quarter.
Having lived in the area for many years I appreciate what a welcoming place Netherlee and Stamperland is.
