Christian Aid
Christian Aid is a global movement of people, churches and local organisations. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart. Everyone is equal in the sight of God, yet we live in a world where poverty, an outrage against humanity, persists. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives.
For over 70 years, we’ve been standing with the poorest of our neighbours. We work in 37 countries, with people of all faiths and none, to stand up for dignity, equality and justice. Together we can create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. Our voices and actions are stronger together.
Netherlee and Stamperland Church supports Christian Aid through collecting in Christian Aid Week, helping to organise the Annual Art Show and supporting other fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

Cranhill Development Trust
Cranhill Development Trust (CDT) is an integral part of its community, responding successfully to the complex needs of Cranhill since 2002. CDT’s primary charitable aims are to promote resilience, tackle poverty and address social exclusion through a holistic range of programmes, opportunities, and events. Our programme includes Employability and Welfare support, Health and Wellbeing activities including our popular holiday programme and community gardening sessions, and Learning and Development that provides ESOL provision (English for speakers of other languages), certificated courses and volunteer opportunities.
Netherlee and Stamperland Church supports CDT by collecting items for and delivering to the nearly new shop, a source of funding for their activities. Nearly new clothes and bric-à-brac can be left in the cupboard adjacent to the ladies’ toilet in the Welcome Hall clearly labelled ‘Cranhill’. Clothes which might be considered rags can also be donated if labelled accordingly.

Glasgow South-East Foodbank
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we at Glasgow South-East Foodbank provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Founded in 2011, the foodbank serves the Glasgow South-East Area of approximately 100,000 people. We are supported by local churches and faith groups, community groups and businesses and by the public through permanent collection points in local supermarkets, weekly and ad hoc collections and financial donations. We have a collection point in the Welcome Hall of Netherlee and Stamperland Church where items from our ‘needed most’ list can be left for the Church’s volunteers to deliver to us. Last year we fed 12,200 individuals and numbers are steadily increasing.

Lodging House Mission
The Lodging House Mission has over 100 years experience in helping disadvantaged people. We’re a Christian organisation with a mission to provide care and support to those in need regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. With more and more adults becoming homeless we have a dedicated team of Support Workers and Volunteers who work together towards one common goal – making a positive difference in people’s lives.
We give people the opportunity to get their lives back on track by enabling them to develop new skills and feelings of self-worth. We do this by providing a safe place with access to educational opportunities and recreational activities, food, essential facilities including showers, telephone, laundry and internet, support staff and counsellors and chaplaincy.
Some of our volunteers come from Netherlee and Stamperland Church whose congregation also support us through food and money donations throughout the year.

Muriel Pearson
Following a career in teaching, Muriel began training for ministry in 2000 and took up the post of parish minister in Cranhill in 2004. There, she worked closely with community organisations and helped develop Cranhill Development Trust. Muriel currently serves on the board of Place For Hope and has trained as a counsellor, an NVC (non-violent communication) practitioner and Capacitar facilitator.
Muriel was appointed to the post of Associate Minister in St Andrew’s Jerusalem and Tiberias in September 2021. As well as connecting with local partners and introducing them to visiting pilgrims from Scotland, Muriel is enjoying chaplaincy at the Scots Hotel and Tabeetha School, and regularly blogs at https://murielpearson.com .

Poppy Scotland
Poppy Scotland provides support for current and former members of the Armed Forces as well as their families. This support is holistic and bespoke. We have helped countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life. We even help long after someone has left the Armed Forces. Whenever, wherever support is needed, we are here.
Established in 1921, we adopted our current name and logo in 2006 to reflect our revised fundraising activities and welfare services work. In 2011, we merged with sister charity the Royal British Legion, which operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to form the largest charity group supporting the Armed Forces community across the UK.
Netherlee and Stamperland Church supports Poppy Scotland through collecting for the Charity in the run up to Remembrance Sunday and other fundraising events.

Sri Lanka
Netherlee and Stamperland Church has a long Association with St. Andrew’s Scots Kirk located in Colombo in Sri Lanka. The Church dates back to the time of the tea planters, many of whom were Scottish, with worship there beginning on 21st October 1842. The Church is a member congregation of the Presbytery of Ceylon, part of the Church of Scotland, hence the name “Scots Kirk”.
The 17th Colombo Scout Group at the Church is also known as the St. Andrew’s Netherlee Scout Group, having been set up and continues to be supported by the Scouts in Netherlee. The Netherlee Cottage Project was started in 2005 with a donation from Netherlee Parish Church to celebrate its 75th Anniversary. It is a family house located in a suburb of Colombo owned by St Andrew’s Scots Kirk where six ladies who were patients of Muleriyawa Mental Hospital are being reintroduced back into society,

Starter Packs Glasgow
Starter Packs Glasgow alleviate poverty and support vulnerable people of all ages across Greater Glasgow. Being offered a tenancy after being homeless, for whatever reason, can be challenging enough, but what if you have nothing? A Starter Pack consist of a duvet, pillows, covers, sheets and pillowcases, blankets, a kettle, a toaster, a minimum of 4 place settings of crockery, cutlery, mugs and glasses, kitchen utensils, pots, pans and oven dishes, tea towels and cloths, storage containers, bath towels, toiletries, cleaning products and a voucher for the two shops. The Magpie’s Nest is a classic thrift store while the Magpie’s Eye is the vintage emporium, filled to the brim with all manner of retro and vintage goodies, including furniture.
Netherlee and Stamperland Church has a member of the congregation who can take donations of small items to Starter Packs and the Sunday Club collect ‘brown pennies’ to buy items for the Packs.
